The Uro Diet is an additive which is recommended as supplemental to everyday
greens offered to our vegetarian friends.
It is recommended to use our product by adding in these items whole in a dry food dish.
For the standard single Tortoises or Uromastyx, our Uro Diet and Uro Grasses
last about 3 months for the single animal.
Usage will vary depending on the species, like if you are providing these to large
Egyptian Uromastyx or large Leopard Tortoises.
A varied diet has been classified as one of the best diets for your animal. There will never been
one perfect superfood, one lettuce which is better than all others, one meal to offer for the rest of your animals’ life.
What there is, is a multitude of vegetables and flowers which provide different levels of specific nutrients which interplay and work together for the overall health of your animal.

Why did we start making these?
Personally, I was tired of seeing every dietary item on the market with secret added fruit, and these items with fruits and sugars were sold and advertised as items for Uromastyx.
I started keeping Uromastyx in 2009 and took in many rescue animals. These animals were in poor condition from poor enclosures, importation stresses, and overall poor husbandry. During the inception of these supplements, I strictly used them as my go-to rescue recovery supplement. Each one is jam-packed with a blend of herbal remedies to aid in the healing of these animals and get them to where they can find their forever homes.
When I first started working with the species Uromastyx yemenensis, I really understood the need for these dry diets. Since then, I have incorporated this dry diet across all species of Uromastyx, Saara and even Tortoises. The overall skin, digestion and muscle health of these animals are noticeable.
Uromastyx are grazing animals, so the idea of letting any of these animals have NO food available, even for even an hour, didn’t sit right with me. Uromastyx should have food available the entirety of their photoperiods, something I have adamantly professed since I started keeping Uromastyx back in 2009. You will never catch my cages without a food source.
Over the years, as we have come to better understand nutrition and ethical sourcing, the mixture has developed into something we are quite proud of. In 2024 we first started to sell the Uro Diet. Now, seeing how much all of my Uromastyx species adore these mixes, I keep this in the enclosures permanently.
From Saara loricata, to Uromastyx yemenensis, to philbyi and ornata, to egyptica, the dispar group and even ocellata.
Not everyone has the resources available to provide great quality variety for their animals. There are many factors like seasonal availability of grasses and flowers.
Ultimately, we developed these Uro Diets with our customers in mind. The every-day hobbyist who has one, or a small group of animals, but who also wishes to provide a varied diet.
Everyone knows, fruits (especially berries) contain fiber, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. But did you know flowers also carry these same properties, sometimes in greater numbers, and without all the added sugar.
Uro Diets
These are all tested, tried and true by our very willing Tortoises and Uromastyx.
There was a gap in the market for a dietary supplement which we could provide for these animals. When we looked at supplements, we found numerous products had added sugar and fruit, something which we were against for the Uromastyx Species.
In addition, we also found most products offered one type of mix everything in it. I don’t know about your animals, but each one of ours likes different things. Because they serve different purposes.
We first created Uro Diets in 2024.
One thing we have discovered is, when we offer these to our youngsters, our customers find it easier to have these animals adapt to their homes and their environments. Offering a large and varied diet to hatchlings makes these animals more confident to investigate and try new things. It has been studied; a varied diet is enrichment for reptiles and benefits your reptiles overall mental health.

The Uro Diet
The Uro Diet mix is a rich source of healthy and natural vegetable protein, dietary fiber, calcium derived from cactus plant and folate.
What is folate?
Folate is a critical B Vitamin which aids the body in making new cells. It is natural and found in many dark leafy greens and legumes. The synthetic form of folate is Folic Acid, but who needs synthetic when folate is so much better.

BEST PRACTICES
We offer all of these products to adults and hatchling.
You can add these items to the top of fresh vegetables or offering it onto a separate plate or dish.
We recommend having food available during all wake hours to promote the most naturalistic grazing environment for the health and wellness of you Tortoise or Uromastyx.
In the wild, most animals have up to 20 different species of plant matter in their digestive system at any given time.
Offering diversity will always outweigh volume for overall body composition health.
There is no one food item which is superior to all others.
There is no one food item which you should be giving every day and week after week.
Our Uromastyx have been seen nuzzling around the food plate for high value food items.
Just like humans, reptiles can have cravings. Cravings are linked to nutritional imbalances in the body. Most are innate cravings for key minerals and nutrients.
Go for variety. No for clean eating. Go for fully organic and human grade items.
That is what we promote.
