The Reptile Topper

The Reptile Topper is a diet additive which is recommended as supplemental to everyday greens offered to our vegetarian friends.

It is recommended to use our product by simply topping your base greens with any one of our products available.

For the standard single Tortoises or Uromastyx, we recommend 1 tsp daily added dry to the plate.
A varied diet has been classified as one of the best diets for your animal. There will never been one perfect superfood, one lettuce which is better than all others, one meal to offer for the rest of your animals’ life. What there is, is a multitude of vegetables and flowers which provide different levels of specific nutrients which interplay and work together for the overall health of your animal.

Not everyone has the opportunity to provide a variety of fresh vegetables for their vegetarian species of reptiles. There are many factors like seasonal availability of greens just not existing in all grocery stores. You may not have access to growing your own vegetables and flowers due to apartment living or having pesticide overspray.

Everyone knows, fruits (especially berries) contain fiber, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. But did you know flowers also carry these same properties, sometimes in greater numbers, and without all of the sugar.

The Tortoise Topper
These are all tested, tried and true by our very willing Tortoises and Uromastyx. We have been giving this to them since 2024.

One thing we have discovered is, when we offer these to our youngsters, our customers find it easier to have these animals adapt to their homes and their environments. Offering a large and varied diet to hatchlings makes these animals more confident to investigate and try new things.
The Rose Mix
Since roses are one of those items the animals loved so much, we wanted to provide a topper which is JUST ROSE.
Roses are a great source of Vitamin C, antioxidants like polyphenols and flavonoids, iron, calcium and zinc.
Think of Rose as an anti-inflammatory and immunity health booster. It benefits the skin, muscles and respiratory health.
The Fresh Flower Mix

Our fresh flower mix has a variety of antioxidants and Vitamin A which work together to combat cellular damage. It also contains specific antioxidants which fight free radicals in the body.

This is one of our more widely popular items due to overall muscle and gut health of the animals.

The Dandelion Mix

The dandelion has been known as a holy grail for most reptile keepers and that’s due to its availability among keepers and popularity among the reptiles we feed them to.

Dandelion’s are a power house of Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It is also high in Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium.

This means they promote bone health, combat cellular damage and support the immune system.

The Hibiscus Mix

The hibiscus is a wonderful mix of fragrant taste, agreeability for most reptiles and popularity among keepers. Specifically, red hibiscus, which are rich in antioxidants to reduce inflammation. It has also been found as a restorative property reducing oxidative stress.

It provides key minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

The Uromastyx Diet

We have a couple variations of this.
We have fine milled, which is great for hatchling Uromastyx under a year old. Then we have the adult diet, great enrichment for animals who are healthy and love picking at and crunching on whole parts.

I started producing my own mixture in 2013 when I first started working with the species Uromastyx yemenensis. U. yemenensis made me realize the need and necessity for having a dry dietary additive available in their enclosure 24/7. Uromastyx are grazing animals, so the idea of letting any of these animals have NO food available for even an hour didn’t sit right with me. Uromastyx should have food available the entirety of their photoperiods, something I have adamantly professed since I started keeping Uromastyx back in 2009.

Over the years, as we have come to better understand nutrition and ethical sourcing, the mixture has developed into something we are quite proud of.

Now, seeing how much all of my Uromastyx species adore these mixes, I keep the shelf-stable diet in the enclosures permanently. From Saara loricata, to Uromastyx yemenensis, to philbyi and ornata, to egyptica, and even ocellata.

Shelf Stable

Two sizes are available, a 16oz and 8oz.

This mix is a rich source of healthy and natural vegetable protein, dietary fiber, calcium derived from cactus plant and folate.

What is folate?
Folate is a critical B Vitamin which aids the body in making new cells. It is natural and found in many dark leafy greens and legumes. The synthetic form of folate is Folic Acid, but who needs synthetic when folate is so much better.

*The bag or container should be stored in a dry location free from direct sunlight*

We offer this as a whole food for adults which also provides the added benefit of enrichment.

Our recommended use is offering this whole in a small dry cup or bowl. We personally have this available 24/7 inside of the cage.

Our animals love fresh greens right when they wake up in the morning, but once it hits the afternoon, we find our Uromastyx will choose these dried toppers over their greens every time.
